Our Story

We’re GoldenRule Lawn Solutions. We are a full-service lawn care company that is dedicated to exceptional customer care.

We serve home owners who want a beautiful healthy lawn year round. We help our clients maintain thriving green grass, trees, and shrubs through our lawn care plans. We keep their properties beautiful and enjoyable through insect control, property maintenance, and landscape design.

Over 15 years ago, the GoldenRule brand started as a simple lawn aeration service operated by John Young. In comes Scott Young, John’s younger brother and the owner of GoldenRule Lawn Solutions today. Like his older brother, Scott took an interest in lawn care services too.

Scott bought his first lawn de-thatcher from a family friend when he was just 12 years old. He didn’t fully understand what the machine was used for or how it worked but he was eager to learn. His lawn care skills developed and his business interests grew. Throughout his Junior High and High School years Scott renovated and treated thousands of lawns.

Then, with a sustained interest in lawn care services and thousands of hours of experience, Scott pursued a degree in Business Entrepreneurship and Turf Science at Brigham Young University and Brigham Young University-Idaho.

While in college, Scott took ownership of the GoldenRule brand, expanded the name to GoldenRule Lawn Solutions, and grew the business from a single-man operation to crews working all over Puget Sound Region.

This success led GoldenRule Lawn Solutions to expand and no longer focus solely on keeping grass green. It was then that the GoldenRule team no longer wanted to focus solely on keeping grass green.

Instead, we want to make sure our client’s entire lawn is beautiful and thriving and we want to provide excellent client care while we do it.

So we’re full service lawn care for people who want caring service and a lawn they can be proud of.

Because we believe thriving lawns and impeccable service are what our clients deserve.

Scott Young

Scott Young grew up in Issaquah, Washington, graduated from Issaquah High School, then served a 2 year service mission in Australia for his church. When he returned, he studied Business Entrepreneurship and Turf Science at Brigham Young University and Brigham Young University-Idaho. He was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year and elected President of an on campus, student led business.

His wife, Aubrey, another Issaquah native, and him love spending time with their sons, Ben and Jake. They also enjoy playing sports together, hiking, skiing, exercising, playing ping pong, and working on home projects together. In the community, Scott is involved with the Boy Scouts of America, and he currently serves with a Varsity Crew (14-16 year olds). He enjoys taking them on adventures into the mountains, and seeing them grow through opportunities.

One of Scott’s favorite accomplishments is summiting Mt. Rainier with his dad and brother. Growing up Scott’s dad would often say “go to the top of the mountain,” meaning to do your best and finish hard things. After reaching the peak, Scott can say he has been to the top of the mountain, and he knows it takes hard work and perseverance to get there in all aspects of life.
